Getting the garden ready

When I woke up Sunday morning, I had a very serious conversation with myself.

Me: Get up! We need to get the garden ready for the plants!
Myself: It’s still cold!
Me: Wear a jacket! They say it’s going to get warmer later.
Myself: It’s still cold! It will always be cold! Plants don’t like cold!
Me: Get your bum off the bed and get a move on! I’ll make you a nice Filipino breakfast :)
Myself: I’m up! I’m hungry!

My Mission: Kill all those pesky weeds that has overtaken my flower bed.

My little helpers.
They actually did a good job planting the seeds for our little greenhouse

I am just in awe every time I see my plants waking up from their winter slumber. I planted this lily just last year and it has produced little baby sprouts.

Post Script:

It did get warm enough to take the jacket off. And the sprouting and budding plants is enough to inspire me to get their bedding nice and cozy for them to rise from.

My succulent pots…

As always, whenever I am in a garden centre, I can never leave without anything. Last weekend it was succulents.

Succulent pots were expensive so I bought a bunch of those cutsie little plants and just made my own pots… all 8 of them… here are a few…

It still gets a bit cold at night so whenever we come in the house to retire in the evenings, these beauties get to sleep on the dining table until it gets warmer for them to be left outside.

We’re back!

Whoa! Mommy has been busy posting! Which means, we don’t get to hack her blog that often too.

But if there’s a will, the Dynamic Duo will find it!

So we are back to wreak havoc and mayhem on mommy’s blog  (evil laugh here)…  (Chaos: “What are you talking about ‘wreaking havoc and mayhem’? There won’t be any havoc or mayhem happening here! Now get away from the keyboard and let me type. You’re too theatrical!” Angel: “I’m just adding some drama to our post so it won’t be boring. you are such a spoilsport.”)

As you probably have read in mommy’s posts, the garden has been coming along really nicely. And with her always fussing over her plants and flowers and looking for other things to stick in the ground, we get to spend more time outside too. She seem happier when she’s playing with dirt. (Chaos: “Though I don’t know why she says ‘NO’ when we play with dirt. I’ll have to have a talk with her about that.”)

Mommy says that there are certain bacteria found in dirt (Angel: “Stop calling it dirt! It’s not dirt, it’s SOIL.” Chaos: “There you go again being a smarty paws.” Angel: “Well, if you’d write properly I wouldn’t correct you all the time.”). Ok, so, there is a certain bacteria found in SOIL that actually makes people happy. Mommy said it’s called Mycobacterium vaccae (you can also read about it here) Maybe that’s why she’s always smiling when she’s in the garden. (Chaos: “If only the same bacteria could make mommy funner too.” Angel: “There is no such word as funNER. The correct term is ‘more fun!’” Chaos: “Oh, sorry little miss word PAWfect.’”)

We’re happy when mommy’s happy. And because we spend hours and hours running around the garden now, we get really pooped and just crash on the couch or the bed while the mommies watch TV. (Chaos: “Just thinking about it is making me sleepy…” Angel: “Me too. That’s something we both agree on!”)

Well, this is all for now. We’re just going to have a short nappy before Mommy gets home. Again, this is Angel and Chaos signing out.

Warning: Gardening may be habit forming!

Yes, I have definitely caught the gardening bug really bad.

All I want to do is garden. Doesn’t sound so bad, right? But thinking about getting more plants and re-landscaping the lawn so I could have more planting space for new plants is not so good specially when I’ve already spent a fortune with what I already have there. Also, I keep checking the weather just to plan out my evenings. Will the weather be nice enough to do more yard work or will it be too cold that I would have to stay in the garage and just do more plant pots?

Because of this constant checking of the weather for gardening conditions, this site has been my new best friend

Well, just have to remind myself that everything should be done in moderation… Maybe I should just lock myself in the house so i can finally get my ironing and other housework done. Doesn’t look like a good day for gardening anyway :)

More Garden Photos

Everytime I am out in the garden, I always have my handy dandy camera with me meaning to write about whatever interesting thing I could think of. I guess nothing so interesting ever comes up aside from that one time I pulled out a really big fat earthworm while digging holes for the plants. My handy dandy camera was not so handy then being out of reach from where I was sitting. So I put Mr. Earthworm back into the ground and told him to take care of my plants and not scare me like that anymore.

Anyway, photos speak louder than words so here are some of the garden’s Before and After photos. Enjoy!
