It’s a long weekend. Tomorrow Canada will be celebrating it’s birthday, while we are celebrating what we love most about Canada… our garden…

Sneak Peek of the garden…

The garden is a burst of all colors, including pots and tables and chairs 🙂

The hostas are slowly inching their way up.

The lilies are starting to go crazy in the beds.

My astilbe. thought it was not going to come up, but now it’s bigger than my bleeding heart.

This is a new little one. I had to buy a new bleeding heart as my other one last year died.

And last but definitely not the least, my precious tree leaf peonies.

 

What’s happening in your garden?

Perks of being a gardener…

Look at what we got at the office the other day. Spring is like Christmas in a gardening magazine office!

I have been looking forward to this. Last year, the boss just gave us a couple of pots from the box that Proven Winners has sent her and the Superbells Lemon Slice calibrachoa hybrid was my favourite! It was absolutely stunning that I just had to have them in my garden again this year!

Another fave from Proven Winners is their Superbells Cherry Star. The colours could just brighten up any garden, where ever they are placed.

I can’t wait to see how these new flowers are going to look like when they are in full bloom!

Getting the garden ready

When I woke up Sunday morning, I had a very serious conversation with myself.

Me: Get up! We need to get the garden ready for the plants!
Myself: It’s still cold!
Me: Wear a jacket! They say it’s going to get warmer later.
Myself: It’s still cold! It will always be cold! Plants don’t like cold!
Me: Get your bum off the bed and get a move on! I’ll make you a nice Filipino breakfast 🙂
Myself: I’m up! I’m hungry!

My Mission: Kill all those pesky weeds that has overtaken my flower bed.

They actually did a good job planting the seeds for our little greenhouse

 

I am just in awe every time I see my plants waking up from their winter slumber.
I planted this lily just last year and it has produced little baby sprouts.

Post Script:

It did get warm enough to take the jacket off. And the sprouting and budding plants is enough to inspire me to get their bedding nice and cozy for them to rise from.

Change in season

Colors changing,
Temperature’s dropping,
The flowers are slowly
Bowing their heads
Bitterly dying.

Nights are longer,
Days now shorter,
And soon enough
Waking up will be
So much harder.

Summer’s over
Wind now colder,
Fall is here.
Then Winter will follow
Very soon after.
